Obsidian released the original grounded in 2020 and it was a big success because of its unique world and interesting plot, and now they are doing it again with the early access release of Grounded 2. This multiplayer, survival game allows you to explore a closed park with friends, all while you are smaller than a single blade of grass. Though the game is still in early access there are many fun missions to accomplish and enemies to fight.

A Unique experience

Grounded 2 released for Game Pass on July 29th, 2025 and is already showcasing new enemies, new weapons and armor, a new story and new map. The map is full of things that you would expect to find lying on the ground of someone’s back yard, only they are a thousand times bigger than their typical size. The map truly makes you feel as though you have been shrunk down to the size of the ant and you’re making your way through a public park, a feeling not found in any other game.

New friends

One of the best new features of Grounded 2 is the addition of Buggies. These are bugs that you can raise as your own and help you to survive the dangers of the park. These critters can help you build, fight and travel as you progress through the game. The ability to ride these buggies makes traveling vast distances feel like a breeze and adds a new level of exploration that was missing from the previous game. Whether you want the buggy for the gathering resources, traveling across the map, fighting a massive spiders, or all of the above, you’ll definitely want to get your hands on one as soon as possible.

The story

Grounded 2 takes place right after the events of the first game, but also feels uniquely different from that of the first game. There is a new mysterious villain who tries to halt your progress of the story at every turn. This keeps you on your toes as you are exploring the map, and even when you are at your own base. She will often send hordes of insects at you and your base that pose a fun and difficult challenge. The game is still in early access so the story is not completely finished yet, but what is available is definitely worth your time.

New Enemies

There are many returning enemies from the first Grounded, but also many more that are unique to this game. This helps the game to feel different from the original and also implementing more challenges and diversity to the combat aspects of the game. Some of these new enemies are very strong, while others are trivial. This means that no matter the stage you are at in the game you’re still encounters enemies that are new to the series. I highly recommend finding all of these new creatures through out the game, as defeating them offers the opportunity to craft new weapons and armor. It is also very likely that there will be many more enemies added to the game when it comes out of early access.

Grounded 2 offers a unique adventure from the that of the first game and adds so many new features and enemies. This game is definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of multiplayer, survival games.
